KC Big 3 Bash
On September 14, KCES Impact hosted the first KC Big 3 Bash (KCB3B). The KCB3B is a student assembly designed to celebrate positive character in the student body. The Elementary Impact students are responsible for hosting the event. They greet PK-4 students at the door, usher them to their seats, recognize students with perfect attendance, distribute caught-ya cards (which acknowledge students who exhibit positive character), choose recipients for the "Absolutely Extraordinary Award" (which is given to students who practice our core values or big ideas in a cool way on their own), and even are learning to operate audio-visual equipment. The entire assembly is for students and led by students. KCES will have one of these assemblies each month, generally on the first Monday of each month. The KC Big 3 is what we call our "core values" and they consist of 1. Treat others right; 2. Make smart decisions; 3. Maximize your potential. In addition to celebrating our KC Big 3, each month we will also celebrate each month's big idea:
September: Initiative
October: Individuality
November: Service
December: Compassion
January: Self-Control
February: Cooperation
March: Hope
April: Friendship
May: Contentment
Take a look at this video, which highlights some of the events from the KCB3B. (This year, 100% of 5th graders chose to participate in Impact!)
